ME Positive-The East Midlands ME/CFS Support Group

Welcome to the site of the ME Positive East Midlands, the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) support group for the East Midlands. We provide a regular newsletter with details of our help-lines, social events, medical research and treatments. We also endeavour to put local people with ME/CFS in touch with each other by phone or E-mail. Organised social events are also a significant and enjoyable aspect of our group, providing the opportunity to make new friends and share experiences in dealing with this disabling condition.

Stop Press! - Facetime and Skype-May 2016.

Hello everyone!,My name is Claire Burns and I have just been elected to join your committee.

One of the concepts I thought we could all benefit from is the use of Facetime (on I-phones) and Skype.

The aspect of our condition that upsets me the most is isolation. The feeling of being alone and dealing with M.E. is really difficult, and loneliness exacerbates the problems we all have with depression and low mood. I have found that, while emails and telephone calls really do help, I wondered if those of you who are housebound would find speaking to a person via video would help. This scheme has lately become popular with many charities, helplines and support groups, and it would mean you could have a face-to-face conversation with another person - and you wouldn’t have to worry about how you looked because we are all (to varying degrees) in the same boat!

If this is something you feel would help you, and if the scheme seems to be popular, I would set aside time once a week and anyone who needed to talk would be able to contact me for a chat, or a chance to vent. Should this be something you are interested in being a part of, please email me at
